CASTLE PLANS FACE FRESH COUNCIL CHALLENGE
Lympne Parish Council has formally objected to two separate planning applications relating to Lympne Castle.
The first concerns proposals for a new event and staff car park. Councillors raised concerns about the impact on neighbouring homes, inadequate screening, lighting and the effect on the Kent Downs National Landscape and Conservation Area.
The second relates to revised plans for the Castle Barn wedding venue development. The Council expressed concerns over the scale of proposed covered parking structures, ecological survey issues and the absence of a landscape impact assessment.
In both cases the Council has requested that the applications be considered by Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s Planning Committee.
PLAY AREA UPGRADE TAKING SHAPE
Plans for the continued improvement of the village play area are progressing well.
The scheme will include a new youth shelter, community orchard, wildlife-friendly planting, sensory garden features and improved disabled access. New signage will also be installed to help keep the play area safe and dog-free.
The project remains within budget and further work is expected over the coming months.
TRIM TRAIL PROVING POPULAR
The new Trim Trail has already received positive feedback from residents.
A short delay was encountered while permit requirements were clarified, but this has now been resolved and contractors are expected to return soon to complete the remaining work.
YOUTH CLUB LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
Lympne Youth Club continues to thrive, welcoming around 25 young people each week.
However, organisers are urgently seeking additional volunteers. The club currently relies on a small team of helpers and more support is needed to ensure sessions can continue.
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact the Parish Council.
